Spring is in the Air..................

Everywhere I look around.................excuse the 'bending' of the John Paul Young lyrics (AKA Love is in the Air....) but it is - The woodpecker arrived back on our feeder this morning - I don't think they migrate but I haven't seen her since late Autumn so that was one of todays pleasures.

Excuse me digressing here - but a friend, who is a personal development coach by day, recently encouraged me to keep a pad and pen by the bed and write down 3 things that made me feel happy that day, even if only fleetingly. This small activity is proven to increase your overall happiness and positive outlook longer term - I call it my Bliss Diary and looking back at mine over the last week or so (I've only been doing this for a month), my entries are mostly 'nature' orientated, but that's hardly a surprise when you live and work somewhere beautiful and I have to say (sometimes guiltily) that I do take time to stop and stare...........Highlights this week in my Bliss Diary are as follows - the mist in the valley this morning - the return of the woodpecker - the lovely dusky pink primulas on my doorstep (which I of course had to take a photo of), crows struggling to fly with huge twigs to make their nests, the big fat buds of rhubarb forcing their way through soil, spotting the lucky white pheasant in the field that's managed to survive the shooting season (hurrah!), the huge progress we've made with our new veg patch (utterly exhausting), and last but not least, the happy smile that yesterdays rhubarb and custard cakes brought to my husband's face - surely the way to any heart is through the administering of cake, is it not?
